Eyeshadows and its types

Eyeshadows and its types

Our eyes are the most delicate and prominent facial feature and they reflect our soul. Externally, our eyes can be beautified with various products such as mascara, false lashes, eyeshadows, etc. Without the proper application of eyeshadow, your makeup may seem incomplete.

If you are a makeup beginner, the use and application of eye shadows could seem daunting. However, understanding its types and techniques can definitely make it seem easier.

Types of Eyeshadows

Powder eyeshadow
One of the traditional types of eyeshadows, powder eyeshadows are the most blendable and give a smooth, stunning finish with a wide range of colors. They are classified as loose powder or pressed powder eyeshadows.

It is the most used as it is suitable for all skin types. One may have to use an eye primer in order to make it last longer. Additionally, rubbing your eyes after its application could lead to smudging. Powder eyeshadows come in several finishes, like matt, shimmer, and satin eyeshadows.

Loose powder shadows are mainly used by professional artists to create bold looks. Usually, a flat brush is useful while applying a loose pigment shadow. However, you need to be careful while using this as some of the powder could fall on your cheeks and ruin your makeup.

Cream eyeshadow
Cream eyeshadows are the best option for people who want their makeup to last all day long. These shadows are the most versatile types of eyeshadows.

Like powder eyeshadows, cream eyeshadows too come in different textures and should be used with a primer. The application, however, is a little different; one can use their fingertips or brushes to blend it. Since it is creamy, it melts because of the body heat and is easier to blend. The inner corner of eyes can be highlighted using cream and skin tone shades with a pearl finish.

People with oily skin should avoid using cream shadows. Additionally, avoid the use of cream eyeshadows in warm and humid days.

Liquid eyeshadow
Liquid eyeshadows come in translucent, sleek tubes. One advantage of liquid eyeshadows is that they do not require brush applicators. A drawback of liquid shadows, however, is that it dries out quickly and needs to be blended immediately. People with oily lids should avoid using liquid eyeshadows.

Using liquid eyeshadows is easy because of its high concentration and easy setting properties.

Stick Shadows
Stick shadows are like wax and cream pencil-like applicators. It is easier to use them as you can directly apply it onto your eyelids and blend them. This is perfect for people who travel often and don’t like the hassle of carrying too many things around with them.

Eyeshadows come in various types and finding the perfect one for you is essential. Once you find a product that works for you, stick with it and experiment with different looks.
