Did you know that nearly 40 million people are affected by arthritis? Symptoms can include fatigue, joint pain, joint tenderness, joint swelling, joint redness, joint warmth, joint stiffness, loss of joint range of motion, limping, anemia, fever, depression and many others. Traditionally arthritis is treated with medication or even surgery in severe cases. Surgically replacing joints can be a very harsh measure to alleviate arthritis. Here is a list of snack options that can help ease RA pain and flare ups:

1. Fatty fish
Fish that are high in omega-3 fatty acids have been known to have anti-inflammatory properties. Salmon, mackerel, sardines and trout are all good choices of high fat fish. Studies have found that taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements decrease joint pain intensity and morning stiffness.

2. Garlic

3. Ginger

Broccoli is known to have many health benefits. It can reduce inflammation while also reducing main symptoms of arthritis.

5. Walnuts
Another snack known to be high in omega-3 fatty acids. This means that walnuts are great at alleviating arthritis symptoms as well as inflammation.

6. Berries
Berries include quercetin and rutin, which are great for overall health. They also contain antioxidants which have been shown to decrease arthritis-related inflammation.

7. Spinach
Spinach contains an antioxidant called kaempferol, which is reputed to reduce inflammation and slow the progression of osteoarthritis.

8. Grapes
Resveratrol is one of the many antioxidants found in grapes. It is located within the skins of grapes and has been found to help reduce inflammation.

9. Olive oil
Not only does olive oil reduce inflammation but it can also slow down the progression of arthritis and even lower your overall risk of developing it.

10. Tart cherry juice
Studies have shown that tart cherry juice can help alleviate arthritis symptoms while also reducing inflammation.

11. Low fat cheese or yogurt
Both low fat cheese and yogurt are great for arthritis. They are high in calcium, which offers protection to your bones. Yogurt also pairs well with berries, making it one of the perfect anti-inflammatory foods.

12. Green tea
Green tea is a great option for overall health but it also does wonders for arthritis symptoms. It contains many helpful compounds that can reduce inflammation. Green tea should be included in every rheumatoid arthritis diet. Keep in mind that green tea does contain caffeine.
